Emmanouela Siora

Emmanouela Siora is researcher at the Centre for Hydrology and Informatics (CHI) in the Department of Water Resources and Environmental Engineering of the School of Civil Engineering at NTUA. She holds an MSc in Geoinformatics and a Diploma in Rural and Surveying Engineering from NTUA. She has been awarded many scholarships for her performances and her skills during her studies (indicatively, from State Scholarship Foundation, Technical Chamber of Greece, Bakala Foundation, Thomaidis Foundation). She has worked as Data, GIS and IT expert both in academic and business environment (10 years experience). Her GIS skills and work include specialization in advanced spatial data management, in 2D and 3D data visualization and map production, in data compliance with INSPIRE Directive and in WebGIS services development. She has also participated in the design and implementation of open-source GIS platforms and Decision Support Systems for city networks and infrastructures, as well as air quality. Her remote sensing skills and work are mostly focused on Medium and High spatial resolution satellite data using pixel-based and Object-Βased Image Analysis (OBIA). The National Cadastre, the Hellenic Statistical Authority, Greek municipalities and private businesses are among the clients she has served. She has also participated in the H2020 research project “ICARUS”. Currently, she works as a consultant for EEA in the European Topic Centre on Inland, Coastal and Marine Waters (ETC/ICM), where she is involved in tasks related to WISE SoE Water Quantity data (WISE-3), Marine Data and Water Quantity Accounts.
